an intro post!
Jul. 10th, 2023 03:50 pmi was struggling to figure out what exactly i should use dreamwidth for, but i think the best way to find that out is to just type something out and hit "post" rather than agonising over it before i even begin.
i'm memryse! i'm 20 years old, somewhere pretty far on the aroace spectrum, she/her. i normally fluctuate between twitter and tumblr as my site of choice, but recently with everything that's been going on i've really started to miss old-school internet. i never really got to properly experience that era in terms of fandom, but early 2010s as a kid i used to use the moshi monsters forums constantly, and i've always missed that sort of vibe with modern social media. so i thought i might give dw a try! i'm already pretty happy just typing html italics codes and it actually doing something, lol.
my main fandom for the last couple of years has been mcyt - all corners of it, even if i don't watch a particular smp chances are i know what it is. but specifically i love hermitcraft, the life series and empires smp! my main contribution to fandom is usually some sort of analysis/meta-type post, i really love to overthink minecraft videos and acknowledge them as unique forms of storytelling. if my degree was at all related i'd be one of those people writing fandom-related essays for university, but alas. i haven't really done much of that in a while, but i might cross-post some of them over to here one day, because tumblr kind of sucks as an archive. mcyt fans have a pretty abysmal reputation in most corners of the internet, and god knows i could write at least 5 long posts on that whole complicated mess, but this site seems chill enough.
in terms of other fandoms, naturally i also love minecraft as a game! i also keep up with various gacha games: mainly twisted wonderland, ensemble stars and love live, but again, i've dabbled in basically every single one and will usually at least check them out on launch. i'm into kpop if i'm allowed to define kpop as ateez and ateez alone.
my real life hobbies are things like baking, vintage fashion and very amateur sewing/other crafts. this page might actually be a better place for writing about my projects compared to tumblr. i also study languages at university (and just finished a rather depressing year studying abroad for it).
